Compliance Policy

Sumitomo Shoji Machinex has made a firm commitment “to comply with laws and regulations while maintaining the highest ethical standards,” as stated in the Sumitomo Corporation Group’s “Activity Guidelines,”  to ensure that we uphold the trust we have built up over many years. Thorough compliance is also vital for further enhancing our corporate value and achieving sustainable growth.
As a basic policy principle, we do not engage in any action that might arouse doubts or uncertainties about our compliance (compliance is our highest priority). And if at any time a potential compliance issue arises, it will be reported immediately using employee reporting line (immediate report).

Compliance Education and System

An internal compliance committee has been set up by the company to undertake compliance-related initiatives, such as developing a system for promoting compliance, conducting educational activities for all officers and employees for raising “compliance consciousness,” and sharing information.

In sales divisions, a “Business Quality Improvement Promotion Department ” has been launched to support voluntary efforts to address individual compliance-related issues and concerns at department level. This helps to penetrate the compliance system and foster a compliance-focused mindset at the frontlines of sales activities.

For the unlikely event that a compliance issue arises and is difficult to report via the employee reporting line (for any reason whatsoever), we introduced a “Speak Up System” that enables employees to contact the Compliance Committee or a designated lawyer directly, in addition to making an immediate report. This system guarantees strict confidentiality of the informant and the communicated information, ensures that the informant will not be subjected to unfair treatment, and sets out procedures for receiving the information and investigating the issue, for the purpose of detecting and resolving and preventing the recurrence of any potential compliance issue.
